Prince Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan was today, January 12, 2023, handed the symbolic flag of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as the candidate of the party to represent Badagry Federal Constituency at the National Assembly in an election billed to hold in a few weeks.
This is as the young philanthropist turned politician restated his commitment to ensuring accelerated development of Badagry, youth and women empowerments through purposeful legislation and other oversight functions.
Sesi made the declaration while addressing a session of the media shortly after the official flag-off of campaign of Badagry Division of the All Progressives Congress at the open space in front of the Federal Government College, Ijanikin, Ojo, Lagos State.
“I joined the race to represent the good people of Badagry Federal Constituency because of my innate desire to take Badagry’s development to a greater level,” Sesi replied to a journalist who asked him why he wants to represent Badagry at the National Assembly.
“For a very long time, I have watched with keen interest some inadequacies in terms of the representation of my people at some echelons of government, where critical decisions of governance were taken. This is something I do not want to continue, as it hinders the true development of my people. I thank God, who has made it possible for me to clinch the APC ticket to represent Badagry at the National Assembly. I want to assure you that I will do everything possible to ensure the accelerated development of Badagry. I will prioritize youth and women empowerment, education, and economic advancement through purposeful legislation at the lower chamber in Abuja.”
“This election is very unique. It’s an election to prove our mettle as the most successful and populous party in Lagos State. I want to encourage all our members and my supporters to ensure they pick up their Permanent Voter’s Card. The PVC is the only weapon we need to win this democratic battle. The INEC officials are already positioned at various designated centers across our wards; let’s mobilize and encourage ourselves, our supporters, and our loved ones to go and pick up the card. By God’s grace, after these looming victories for all our party’s candidates, we shall celebrate. Thank you.
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who also attended the campaign flag-off, which attracted a mammoth crowd of the party’s supporters and leaders across all the local governments in the division, reiterated his resolve to ensure a remodeled Greater Lagos that will be a home to all. The governor, who is also seeking reelection, urged all party members to campaign and work assiduously to ensure victory for him, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the party, and all the APC candidates in the state.
