According to The Vanguard, it was reported that a leaked memo has shown that President Tinubu is thinking about bringing in former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura—who is known to be close to former President Muhammadu Buhari—to help convince the CPC bloc to stay in the APC.
According to the memo, Al-Makura is being considered for the position of APC national chairman if he can successfully persuade Buhari to step in and encourage his loyalists to remain in the party.
Sources revealed that Al-Makura has planned a press conference for Monday, where he is expected to announce Buhari’s supposed support for keeping his political supporters within the APC.
The leaked memo has also revealed the deepening divisions within the APC and has raised concerns about the party’s unity and strength ahead of the next election.
