Two brothers, Hon Chukwuma Nwazunku and Dr Augustine Nwazunku, are among aspirants who have picked governorship forms for Ebonyi State.
The duo picked governorship forms under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Augustine was the former Secretary of Ebonyi State Agency for Aids Control (EBOSACA).
His younger brother, Chukwuma, is the member representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu constituency in the House of Representatives and a former Ebonyi Speaker
Former Minister of State for Health, Fidelis Nwankwo, has also picked the PDP governorship form.
Nwankwo was the Director-General of Governor David Umahi’s Divine Mandate Campaign Organisation for the 2015 and 2019 elections.
Nwankwo, at a rally on Tuesday in Abakaliki, capital of the State, said his administration’s programme, if elected, will be based on four cardinal points namely: functional education, job creation and youth empowerment, rural infrastructure and due process of governance.
He said he has acquired enough knowledge through education and various positions he has held in public service that will enable him to provide good leadership for the state.
The former Minister said his administration will abolish the indigene and non-indigenes dichotomy in the State.
He also promised to revisit the controversial decision of Governor David Umahi’s administration to demolish the Abakpa Main market in the capital city of Abakaliki during which many lost their shops.
Nwankwo, while lamenting the education sector in the State was in a sorry state, noted that the teaching population is no more than 30 percent of the requirement.
