Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has released an updated list of senatorial aspirants disqualified from participating in its primary elections, removing former Bayelsa East Senator Ben Murray-Bruce from the earlier list. The party had initially announced that 47 aspirants were disqualified following its screening exercise conducted by party committees in line with established guidelines.
However, in the updated list, Murray-Bruce’s name was omitted, indicating a revision of the earlier screening outcome.
Other prominent figures, including Rivers politician Tein Jack-Rich, remain on the list of aspirants who did not scale the screening exercise.
The APC said the screening process was conducted in accordance with its internal procedures and party regulations.
The revised list covers aspirants across several states including Rivers, Oyo, Zamfara, Bayelsa, Nasarawa, Plateau and others, with multiple candidates affected in various senatorial districts.
The party is expected to proceed with its primary elections as scheduled despite the controversy surrounding the screening outcomes.
The updated list, signed by the National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, reduced the number of affected aspirants from 47 to 44, with no explanation offered for the deletions.
Morka said: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby releases an updated list of Senatorial aspirants not cleared to participate in the Party’s Senate Primary Elections.
