Sure, you must have heard about antioxidant fruits but don’t know how to get them because of the big word ‘Antioxidant’. Stay calm; they are fruits that you see every day either on your way to work or encounter on entering a grocery store.
In layman’s term, antioxidant fruits are fruits that enhance good health and prevent diseases. Antioxidants prevent cancer, heart diseases and diabetes just to mention but a few.
By incorporating at least 2 to 3 fruits a day into your diet, you may be helping your body reduce its chances of heart disease, neurological diseases, cancer and lowered immunity.
Moneywise, these fruits cost little in the market, they are affordable so you do not need to spend thousands of naira on food supplements.
WATERMELON
Watermelon provides high amount of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant for low amount of calories. Its refreshing and delicious watery taste fights heat. It also nourishes the skin and growth of body tissues. Watermelon contributes to overall hydration of the body.
APPPLE
Apples contain disease-fighting vitamins easily absorbed into the blood stream and they are also antioxidant. The antioxidant content of apple is found in its peel (so, don’t peel the back off).
Apple also helps to reduce the risk of stroke, diabetes and heart diseases.
PINEAPPLE
Fresh pineapple is a very good source of antioxidant vitamin.it also contains vitamin A, which enhances good vision and vibrant skin.
The vitamin C in pineapple juice helps to combat heart disease.
CARROT
Each variety of carrot contains different types of antioxidant phytonutrients. Carrot enhances clear vision and also combats colon cancer.
ORANGE
Oranges are low in calories; it enhances healthy skin and is full of nutrients. Orange has a strong antioxidant effect because it has over 170 different phytochemicals and more than 60 flavanoids.
