John Darlington has gotten to that threshold in a man’s life when brooding tragedy and its dark shadows can only be lightened by recalling great moments of the past. After he left the banking sector, John Darlington, remained jobless for many years. Then he enjoyed a miraculous reprieve as one of his friends appointed him as the Deputy Managing Director of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company. He worked there for a year or thereabouts and eventually left the company for reasons best known to him.
It is unclear whether there was any issue that led to his sudden exit but speculations abound over his sudden exit from the electricity company. You couldn’t have forgotten so soon how he was arrested few years ago at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) as he returned from London, in connection with the N1.6billion embezzled by the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tafa Balogun. His Bond Bank limited declared insolvency and subsequently shut down operations.
However, soon after he ran into troubled waters, Darlington suffered scorn from his peer in high society. Then he suffered ill health and in fact, he just escaped death by the whiskers following a brain surgery performed on him at a London hospital.
