As the storm abates around the ravaged shores of Bukola Saraki’s political empire, the Senate President has rediscovered his spunk and craving for mundane things, like celebrity and applause. Just recently, he hosted Super Eagles Captain and Chelsea FC playmaker, John Mikel Obi, in a widely publicised meeting.
Bet a lot of people don’t know the other side of Senate President. He likes football. Thank God the crisis that was to consume him has been simmered. His detractors in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have soft-pedaled in their onslaught thus allowing him a breather in the scandalous corruption and senate forgery trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). Saraki retains his seat as the Senate President and he was with APC leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, few days ago with both of them posing and smiling sheepishly for the cameras. Obviously, the storms are thawing out in Saraki’s backyard; that is why he was able to host Mikel Obi and hobnob with erstwhile known detractor, Bola Tinubu. Soon after he played host to Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, he wrote in a Twitter update: “Had the pleasure of hosting @mikel_john_obi yesterday & nice to get to know him off the pitch. Assures of a great game against Zambia.”
