All is not well at the 1004 Estate in Victoria Island, Lagos . From one crisis to another, the residential area has been tumbling down the gradient of peace, forcing service-providers to withdraw.
Its electricity provider has pulled out of the Estate. This is in addition to other unhealthy developments such as progressively inefficient water infrastructure, electricity theft for which an unemployed South African who led the elimination-campaign against the last elected executive of the Estate’s Home-Owners and Residents Association was allegedly indicted but escaped arrest.
All these have resulted in the inability of the Estate’s Home Owners and Residents Association to establish a new executive to replace the previous which was literally flushed out.
An interim Committee that was set-up to facilitate the emergence of a new exco has been infested with the crisis-virus which it was meant to eliminate. Its members have been accused of graft and as expected, counter-accusations have made speedy resolution of related issues impossible.
Watchers say that the Estate’s residents are fast building an unwholesome reputation. While some residents say that they are optimistic about having all hot issues cooled sooner than later, others insist that the Estate’s troubles are just at their early stages of manifestation.
