Source close to the beauty queen revealed that Agbani Darego has not been happy recently because, while she has achieved much in her endeavors as a model and an entrepreneur, she has not found a man to crown her achievement.
In Africa, a woman’s achievement, no matter how great it is, account to nothing if she does not have a man in her life. The man is seen as the peak of a woman’s achievement; and the society only gives honor and respect to a woman who bears her husband’s surname.
According to the source, it is not that Agbani is have dearth of suitors, in fact, her suitors cross across human endeavors and most of them belong to the rich and famous, but Agbani Darego is trying to play safe with men, having experienced heartbreaks from them in the past. As a successful woman herself, she cannot be enticed by of wealth of her suitors.
Earlier this year, rumor circulated like wild harmattan fire, that Agbani Darego and one time director of the Niger Delta Commission and politician, Timi Alaibe, are heading to the alter. But Timi Alaibe disclaimed the report as rumor, claiming the relationship between them is just like brother and sister.
Agbani, like every other successful woman, is nurturing fear of losing relevance after marriage because in a society such as ours, the woman becomes a subject to her husband.
