AFTER KIDNAP SAGA…CBN GOVERNOR, GODWIN EMEFIELE’S WIFE FINDS SAFE HAVEN ABROAD

Almost one year after she was kidnapped by armed men, fright still nestles in the deepest recesses of the mind of Margaret, wife of the Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele. Don’t blame her. The experience, according to similar survivors, is not pleasant one bit.

Mrs Emefiele was reportedly on her way from the Benin Airport en route Agbor, Delta State, her husband’s village, when the daredevil kidnappers ambushed her on the Benin-Asaba expressway. Her security detail who tried to resist the operation was reportedly shot dead before they made away with their ‘prize’ and another occupant of the car.

Though she spent barely three days in the kidnappers’ den before help came her way, close family sources say Margaret still breaks out in cold sweat and shudders repeatedly whenever she recalls the incident.

Findings revealed that the CBN governor’s wife has taken drastic steps to prevent a recurrence of her perilous ride on the coasts of death. She has changed her friends and reduced her social appearances. This is because she is still in the dark about how she became game and easy prey for her abductors.

Margaret hasn’t recovered from the gruesomeness foisted on her by her abductors. Everyday heralds a fresh struggle through her ordeal but the meek and lovable woman is pulling through. Notwithstanding her increased security detail and measures, she lives like a woman who knows that her gated mansions can only offer little protection.

Her husband, in spite of his hectic schedule, endeavours to spend as much time as he could steal away from work to be with her. But in recent time, and in a bid to obliterate the dark memories of that September 2016 afternoon, Margaret has been making regular visits abroad. And not for her is the fluctuating rate of the dollars or the cost of such luxury expenditure; after all, her husband is very wealthy.
