• EbonyLife TV boss hosts high society to the grand movie premiere and memorable after-party
Come Sunday, December 10, Lagos will charge with awe and grandeur as Ebony Life TV boss, Mo Abudu, treats the coastal city to Middle Eastern magic. The coastal city will shimmer and pulse with rousing timbre of Abudu’s A-list opening and Grand World Premiere of The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai.
Predictably, the premiere is sold out even as the crème of Nigeria’s high society scramble for whatever good graces or concession they could enjoy to attend the event courtesy Abudu’s magnanimity.
The forthcoming premiere enthused one of the planners, is the kind that makes attendees swoon in ecstasy and feel obligated to compose treatises, poems, odes and other pieces on the beauty and grandeur of the proceedings.
The ELFIKE Film Collective, a partnership between EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Inkblot Productions and Koga Studios, is ecstatic about the sold-out Grand World Premiere of The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai scheduled to hold at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island.
Due to the scramble for attendance, the event’s VVIP table and seats were sold out about two weeks ago; and to guard against last minute hitches, the premiere space was preowned and paid for three years ago.
This is further establishes the glamour and social significance of the event, which like its prequel, the most anticipated social engagement for the year. Like The Wedding Party 1, The Wedding Party 2 promises a magical experience where the world’s business, political entertainment bigwigs and socialites unite to hobnob and appreciate the artistry of Nigeria’s finest artistes.
In a departure from previous premieres, the bar is being raised in terms of format, décor and service levels, to create an unforgettable occasion. Its theme, ‘Arabian Nights’, was inspired by the movie’s glamorous locations in Dubai, one of the world’s favourite holiday destinations. With that comes opulent venue décor, guests dressed in gorgeous ‘Arabian chic’ outfits and a variety of activities and entertainment that evoke the spirit of the region.
Final preparations are being made for a most spectacular event, with some of Nigeria’s most celebrated and influential individuals in business, entertainment and politics expected on the red carpet. A sumptuous 3-course meal will follow, accompanied by the finest wines, champagne and spirits. The legendary King Sunny Ade, Kiss Daniel, Seyi Shay, Sugarboy, Kaliné, Reekado Banks and Timi Dakolo will perform during dinner, before making way for the highlight of the evening, the screening of the hilarious romantic comedy, The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai.
Mo Abudu, CEO, EbonyLife Films, is looking forward to celebrating with guests. “We’re flabbergasted by the interest this premiere has received. The support from corporate partners and individuals has been incredible – we sold out one month before the event. I think that our guests will be genuinely surprised by the unique ambience we are creating to ensure that the evening is as memorable as the film will be entertaining.”
After the screening, a lit after-party will take place in an ultra-cool suite that boasts an open bar and comfortable lounge areas. Hosted by media partners, MTV Base and featuring DJ Obi and DJ Cuppy, the party is likely to end only when guests decide to leave. And when it’s finally over, attendees will leave with envy-inducing gifts in an exclusive goodie bag, thanks to event sponsors Dubai Tourism and other partners.
The event is certainly billed to be the most glamorous and elite outing of 2017. Having generated so much buzz across high society circuits, the notion is rife that any celebrity or socialite worth his or her salt would get a seat at the event.
“If you fail to be part of it, then you really need to reassess your social capital and change circuits,” enthused a very senior member of the event’s planning team.
Few people would forget in a hurry, the pomp and radiance of the premiere of the movie’s prequel. Mo Abudu, without doubt, has a knack for hosting the best events and after-parties.
For instance, memories of the premiere of her movie, ‘Fifty’ and its after party still titillates participants at the event.
Besides the pageantry of the premiere, the after-party presented even greater avenue for Mo’s guests to marvel and drool over her brilliance and unimpeachable social capital. The after-party, according to many of the guests, was great and unprecedented in the history of high society outings in t he country. By the time the party drew to a close in the wee hours of the dawn, many of the guests groaned in dissatisfaction – they wished for the party to go on.
The Wedding Party 2’s forthcoming premiere promises to be a grander affair. And this among other realities, attests to the unparalleled luster and panache of Mo Abudu.
