Last Saturday, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, quaked at the seams as prominent Nigerians stormed the highbrow Asokoro District to felicitate with billionaire businessman, Captain Hosa Okunbo, at the grand opening of his multi-billion naira five star hotel, The Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments.
An awe-inducing edifice with a unique blend of contemporary luxury and historic heritage, superb amenities, genuine hospitality and dedicated service for an elevated experience, the Wells Carlton Hotel offers its guests 14 breath-taking and stunning luxury apartments and Penthouses, scenic suites and elegantly appointed rooms, giving a perfect blend of relaxation, business and pleasure. The hotel claims its commitment is to exceed customers’ expectations with its impeccable attention to detail, courtesy, and a genuine care for their every need.
According to Captain Hosa, “This is a brand to which I have attached my name. It has taken me nine years to achieve. Not nine years because it couldn’t have been ready sooner; but nine years because, for me, only the word ‘perfect’ will do! This brand stands for my character of tenacity, perfection, integrity and excellence! I bought the land in 1999 for N10 million and I started the construction in 2009 and commissioned it nine years after. It took me time because I needed on board people that shared same vision with me.” He said further, “This project represents what I stand for, which are my name and reputation. But the most important joy for me was that the multi-billion-naira project was completed successfully without a dime being owed any bank or anybody elsewhere.”
More important for him, he said, is the platform to contribute to the human and socioeconomic development of Nigeria; “Currently, we have over 300 people directly working in the hotel, including foreigners, in addition to thousands of other indirect jobs that we have created. There is no doubt that the number will go up as soon as possible.”
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, declared open the hotel. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, led some National Assembly members to the event, while Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, his deputy, Philip Shuaibu, All Progressive Congress (APC), national chairman, Adams Oshiomole, and his predecessor, John Oyegun, led the political team from Edo. Rave of the moment singers, Davido and Kizz Daniel put up scintillating performances while comedy powerhouse, Ali Baba anchored the ceremony.
