•Ritual killers and armed robbers take over cities and towns
•Nyesome Wike’s government gradually losing people’s respect
Though issue of security is a universal phenomenon, but for Rivers State, it has suddenly become a cause for concern by residents and people of the state as they begin to question the stance of their Governor, Nyesom Wike, on the intermittent killing, kidnapping and arm robbery that have taken over the cities and towns in the state.
Many deaths have been recorded recently over brutality by cultists, arm robbers and kidnappers in the state and it’s fast becoming alarming as people of the State are living daily under the shadow of fear.
Last week, the life of a former lawmaker, Monday Eleanya, was cut short by gunmen who attacked him along Ada George Road in Port Harcourt, killing him at the spot.
Few days back, it was reported that 10 were feared dead in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni LGA during a cult clash. A source who spoke to our correspondent, said, “The State is currently in disarray, people are running for their lives. Because you don’t know when these demons will just barge into your house and take your life. People are scared. It has gotten so worst that these evil cultists have the guts to operate during the day with fear for no authority. They are so strong-headed to the extent that even the authorities are scared of these deadly cultists roaming the state. They have taken over our city; it will only take God’s grace to redeem Rivers State from this evil people”.
Another source said, “The Governor is weak, he lacks the manpower to fight this deadly cultists, that is why they have grown so much wings to do their evil anytime and anywhere they want”.
According to another source, the clash was described as deadly because they chopped off heads of their victims. He says, “Though I only heard of the killing of four students in a Community, I’m not an indigene, but since I’ve lived in this State, I’ve never heard or seen anything like this before. This people cannot be categorized as human because they don’t have a heart again. They killed and beheaded their victims. We are asking you people, the Media to help ask Governor Wike what he is doing about the current situation of the State. Though every State has its own peculiar problem, but it was not this bad during Governor Amaechi’s time in Office. Please we are asking the Governor to help”.
Obviously the major problem in the state is the lack of security and interest in protecting the citizens whom they are supposed to serve, but priorities as a matter of fact has been misplaced that is why killing of innocent citizens is growing to become a norm, thereby giving the perpetrators strength and guts to grow and carry out their evil regardless of the time, making Rivers State their den.
