The Ogun State governor fondly called, Mr Roads, because of so many roads he has completed in the state, is perfect proof that it is not by dramatic attainments alone that champions are made, but by will. Abiodun is a man of great will hence his sterling accomplishments in governance and the fields of enterprise.
Since electioneering for 2023 kicked off officially, there had been solidarity walks for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima across the country. But that which held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital yesterday, was of a different hue as it witnessed a stronger-than-expected turnout of members and supporters of the APC.
Perhaps because it had the imprimatur of Governor Dapo Abiodun, who is seeking a second term in office, the mega walk surpassed all expectations as the rock city heaved and listed to the excitement of the people as they sang, danced, and used the opportunity to further sensitise residents about the forthcoming general election. Despite the scorching intensity of the midday sun, Abiodun led from the front as the throng of yellow vests and caps-wearing supporters progressed through major streets and roads in the Abeokuta metropolis.
Governor Abiodun, who addressed members of the party at the NNPC Junction, said that the walk was planned just on Sunday and the turnout was intimidating: “This massive crowd is enough to scare any opposition. I want to thank you all for coming out in large numbers to show support for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and myself. I want to urge those of us who have not collected our voter cards to do so. It is a show of love that you support Tinubu and Dapo Abiodun’s election victory in 2023.”
The governor described Tinubu and Shettima as the best candidates that would turn the nation around for the benefit of all while declaring that the large turnout was a testimony that the party enjoys wider acceptability across the state. He promised that his administration would continue to formulate and implement people-oriented policies that would engender development in appreciation of the mandate entrusted in him. Governor Abiodun, therefore, urged the people to support his second-term bid for him to continue the good work he had started.
He added, “I sincerely appreciate everyone that has made this a huge success, as we forge ahead in anticipation of a successful and victorious election in 2023. We are still going to hold a rally at the stadium and, by February, we shall cast our votes for all APC candidates.”
