Basirat Damilola Marshall, daughter of Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, also known as KWAM1, has been appointed by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as his Senior Special Assistant on Tourism.
This appointment was confirmed through a viral video where KWAM1 expressed gratitude to the governor for appointing his daughter into his cabinet. The announcement was further supported by congratulatory messages seen on Damilola’s Instagram page, @damimarshall_, on Thursday.
In the viral video, KWAM1, during his performance at the coronation and birthday reception of Oba Sikirullah Apena on Thursday, publicly thanked Sanwo-Olu for the appointment, mentioning that it was Damilola who urged him to do so.
Congratulatory messages poured in, with one Nigerian, Olanrewaju-Smart Wasiu, expressing his felicitations, “Congratulations Barr. @damimarshall_ on your appointment as the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism. This is a deserving recognition for your hard work and contributions to our party,” to which Damilola responded with gratitude, saying, “Thank you, sir.”
Another well-wisher, Balogun Basia, shared, “Please, join me in congratulating my friend K1 and the entire family on the appointment of my daughter Barrister Basirat Damilola Marshall as the SSA to the governor of Lagos State on Tourism. Damilola, this shall be the beginning of many good things that will come your way and that of your siblings Insha Allah, Alaumoh Amin.”
Before her appointment, Damilola served as a principal partner at the law firm, Damilola Ayinde Marshal and Co.
Efforts to reach the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, for confirmation were unsuccessful as messages sent to his WhatsApp line were not responded to at the time of this report.
