Troops have killed 58 Boko Haram fighters in the latest military operation in Borno State, spokesman of the Army Col. Sani Usman, said yesterday

Two hand grenades, 52 motorcycles, several bags of foodstuff were also recovered during the operation carried out by troops in Nigeria’s northeast Borno State late Monday, said Col. Usman, adding that the military also lost a soldier in the gunfight.

The announcement followed the killing of 27 Boko Haram terrorists in separate raids last weekend by the military.

With the latest development, the Nigerian government said it is winning the war against terrorism and has “technically defeated” Boko Haram
