The idea that Vice President Kamala Harris had gained ground in the polls following her acceptance speech at the Democratic convention was refuted by former president Donald Trump on Thursday, August 22.
Trump provided live commentary on Harris’ remarks via Truth Social and immediately phoned into Fox News following the vice president’s conclusion.
Donald Trump challenges Kamala Harris’ poll surge
Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum noted that since becoming the Democratic nominee, Harris has seen an increase in poll numbers, especially among women, Black, and young voters.…CONTINUE READING
“She’s having some success in that at this point. What are you going to do, what’s your strategy to rebuild the momentum that you had with those voters?” MacCallum asked.
“No, she’s not having success. I’m having success. I’m doing great with the Hispanic voters. I’m doing great with Black men. I’m doing great with women because women want safety,” Trump replied.
“No, it’s only in your eyes that they have that, Martha,” he added. “We’re doing very well in the polls.”
Polls indicate that Harris has overtaken Trump’s lead over President Biden both nationally and in crucial battleground states since she became the presidential candidate in late July. The Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan entity, recently moved three battleground states in Harris’ favor, according to The Hill.
Moreover, their latest polling data reveals Harris is ahead of Trump in five of the seven pivotal battleground states that are expected to determine the outcome of the November election.
Donald Trump criticizes Kamala Harris’ DNC Speech
In his posts on Truth Social and during his appearance on Fox, Trump heavily criticized Harris’ speech. He questioned why she hadn’t taken more action as vice president to tackle the issues she mentioned, like immigration and inflation.
“The biggest reaction is why didn’t she do the things that she’s complaining about. All of these things that she talked about, but she didn’t do any of it,” Trump added.
He also objected to Harris’ attempts to link him directly with Project 2025, a policy framework from the conservative Heritage Foundation outlining plans for the upcoming GOP administration.
Throughout the week, Democratic speakers emphasized controversial proposals in the document, from which Trump has consistently dissociated himself.
“She knows I have nothing to do with Project 25,” Trump said. “They throw it out. A group of people got together. They did a thing. I haven’t even seen it. I don’t want to see it.”
Internet ridicules Donald Trump
As soon as the news surfaced on the internet, users started reacting to it. A user said talking about Trump, “Denial is one of the stages of grief. The 78-year-old man is in denial.”
Another mocked Trump saying, “This is too f*****g funny.”
Another commentator wrote, “He is a pathetic old and convicted felon.”
“His arrogance will be the end of him,” one claimed.
A person trolled the former president, “This guy seems like he’s an actor! It seems like a skit! Ask him has he taken his night meds?”
One of Harris’ supporters said, “A new poll shows Kamala up by 5 points. What is he talking about? Trump will be defeated by a Black woman.”
Another user added, “Sounds like of like the 3rd grader argument “I’m rubber, you’re glue”…”
