Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has advised Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election. He suggests that Peter Obi shouldn’t to contest in 2027, warning that he would face disappointment if he ran again.

In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele stressed that President Bola Tinubu is too strong to be defeated by a single candidate. He cautioned Obi against standing alone, suggesting that his only chance would be to form alliances. He said, “If you think you can stand alone to defeat Tinubu, you are joking. You can’t defeat Tinubu alone because a lot of people are even deceiving you. Don’t waste your energy because even the Igbos won’t be with you this time.”
He further warned that those currently backing Obi might abandon him before the election. “People you believe are still supporting you will disappoint you, so you can’t afford to stand alone for anything at all,” he added. According to Ayodele, contesting without strong alliances would be a waste of time and effort.
