Osun 2026: Gov Adeleke Set to Dump PDP Amid Crisis, Party Chieftain Reveals Next Platform

Governor Ademola Adeleke may be on the verge of leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

Fresh indications from within the party suggest that the internal crisis rocking the PDP has reached a level where presenting a governorship candidate next year may no longer be possible.

This growing uncertainty has now placed Adeleke in a difficult position regarding his political future.

Governor Adeleke became the centre of discussions after the PDP’s National Deputy Vice Chairman (Southwest), Kamorudeen Ajisafe, openly hinted that the party is too divided to conduct a valid primary.

He said the crisis has reached a stage where the governor may have no option but to look for another platform if he intends to contest for a second term.

Ajisafe, who spoke on a radio programme monitored within the state, explained that the situation in Osun is different from that of other PDP-controlled states.

He stressed that with INEC fixing December 15 as the deadline for primaries, the PDP faces a real risk of missing the window entirely.

According to him, the party cannot afford a repeat of what happened in Ekiti, where internal rebellion cost the PDP its strength.

He stated, “Let me tell you that if anything happens in Osun, it has to do with looking for a platform to contest. Where is the platform to contest now? It is absolutely known to the whole world that there is no way that the PDP would be able to nominate a candidate for the 2026 governorship election.”

His remarks have intensified speculations across Osun’s political circles. Multiple insiders claim that the governor may be considering Accord Party or APGA as possible alternatives.

Some sources say Adeleke has already made discreet contacts with Accord’s leadership, while others argue that the discussion is still at an early stage as he weighs the most secure route to retain his seat.

Despite the growing rumour, the governor has not publicly confirmed any plan to defect.

Close allies, however, admit that the pressure is mounting, especially with the PDP crisis showing no clear sign of resolution
