Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Oji River in Enugu State, Rt Rev Ikechukwu Egbuonu, has highlighted concerns expressed by Nnamdi Kanu when he visited the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, at the Sokoto Correctional Facility.

Speaking to AIT, Bishop Egbuonu said the IPOB leader complained of his heart condition.

He also said that Kano expressed fear about his ability to pursue his appeal looking at the distance from Abuja to Sokoto.

Apart from these concerns, he said that the Abia-born agitator was very composed in the prison.

Kanu, according to the Bishop, said he is supposed to be in Abuja to reconcile his record with the High Court before they proceed with filing the appeal and he has only a 90-day window to pursue this case.

“So he was not quite happy that no signal had been given to Sokoto to bring him to Abuja to do that and return back.

“I also heard when he was requesting to talk to his lawyer over an issue that the lawyer was raising, about a misunderstanding about some things he wrote in…you know…he gave him to file for him.

“He’s feeling bad about not being able to speak to his lawyers.”

Reminded that it appears that Kanu sacked his lawyers, the Bishop said “No, he didn’t sack his lawyers.

“He decided to defend himself in this case and employ the lawyers as consultants to advise him.

“So they were still working even while I was there, one of the lawyers came in with me as I landed.”
