Ambition is the grand enemy of all tact. It has reduced many a minion to the rank of contemptible vermin even as it transforms the noble into hideous phantoms with an appetite for insatiable hunger. Were Olusola Oke conscious of this undeniable facts, he would temper his quest for power with restraint.
Interestingly, if Ondo state governorship aspirant, Chief Olusola Oke had any foreboding of danger or disgrace on Tuesday, at about 11am, he would not have gone anywhere near the Bourdillon, Ikoyi, Lagos home of the national leader of the All Progressives’ Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. But his instincts were in deep slumber that day. So sad!
Hitherto a familiar face in Bourdillon where the political and economic dreams and aspirations of many are achieved or dashed with the same clinical precision, Chief Olusola Oke who came with his wife to see Asiwaju Tinubu, thought as it was in the past when he had unhindered access, it still were so. To his consternation, he was told off at the gate on the prompting of Asiwaju.
He bragged and bayed about his influence and connection in the presidency, nobody cowered. He spat into the air and received it with measured cadence but nothing happened. The security guys didn’t listen. His braggadocio and bravura, for which he had achieved renown, failed him as he turned red in embarrassment. He stood there for over 4 hours inside the scorching sun, looking like an envelope without an address on it.
After about 4 hours, Asiwaju drove out without saying a word to him. Sadly, Oke left with his tail in between his legs, totally cowed and humiliated.
Many gawked and gaped at the embarrassment that had just befallen one of the Ondo popular politicians. But like Oke, they were helpless. According to a source, he may not be totally cowed but he is definitively very sad.
