Death sauntered into the lives of Yinka Adedayo and her husband in gaudy colours. Two years ago, it claimed the life of their only son, Olubunmi, in his prime. But despite their grief and disconsolateness over his untimely death, the Tastee Fried Chicken (TFC) boss and her husband took solace in the fact that he departed this world to join the choir invisible of the immortal dead who live again, ad infinitum, in hearts and lives made better by their presence.
The Adedayos, in spite of their misery, took solace in the fact that their boy, unlike his unlucky peers, was not killed in the deadliest zones of the boondocks. They are grateful that he didn’t die in the trenches howling in rage and indescribable pain. They are appreciative of the fact that he wasn’t stretched out on pallets of mud low down with the worm and the ant, in death.
Immediately after the demise of their son, Olubunmi, the TFC boss, and her husband took a wide berth from social functions. Even though the death of their son, Bunmi, was a hard reality they have been forced to live with, the couple seems determined to get back on their feet. Recently, they were sighted at a wedding which held at the Oriental Ball room, Victoria Island.
It would be recalled that the Adedayos launched ‘The Bunmi Adedayo Foundation’ in January, in honour of their late son. Held at the Muson Centre, Lagos, the event witnessed a gathering of eminent personalities who took turns to pay glowing tributes to their deceased son. The foundation was conceived to propagate their late son’s spirit of giving and sharing. He allegedly exhibited these traits through various charity programmes while he was the Executive Director of Tastee Fried Chicken.
