Former governor of Borno State, who has been accused of having ties with Islamic insurgents Boko Haram, Ali Modu Sheriff, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The spokesperson for PDP, Olisa Metuh, made the disclosure while addressing journalists at the Abuja’s Wadata plaza secretariat of the party, on Tuesday.
Metuh stated that all the organs of the party- the national caucus, PDP governors’ forum and the national assembly caucuses- reached a collective decision to appoint Sheriff as the party’s new chairman.
