How blogosphere got ‘news’ of their separation wrong
Olori Naomi gives birth to a baby boy in Akure
Bloodsport is brought to refinement on the wings of an ugly rumour; between the surly gossip and the treacherous friend, an unlikely partnership often blooms, especially when they share a common target.
Indeed, it takes your enemy and your friend, working together, to hurt you to the heart; the one to slander you and the other to get the news to you.
Ask Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; although he wouldn’t make an issue of it, the paramount monarch is too much of a gentleman and pacifist to berate certain subjects within his circuit for divulging news of his wife, Olori Naomi’s relocation to her father’s house, soon after they got married.
No sooner did she move out than the rumour broke out that their much celebrated marriage had crashed.
Social media was agog and blogosphere caught fire as gossip hounds went to town spreading news of the couple’s separation.
But unknown to them, the Ooni hadn’t separated from his wife. They had no quarrel, neither were they in a bind suggestive of hidden or open hostilities.
Contrary to the rumours about them, the couple simply agreed to temporarily live apart due to Olori Naomi’s condition. Immediately she got pregnant, she moved out of the palace to her parents’ house in Akure, Ondo State.
Ooni didn’t come out to debunk the rumours, anyway. Tongues wagged and rumour-mongers spared no malice in mooting scenarios, faking exclusives and dissecting the non-existent tiff that led to the royal couple’s perceived separation.
Few months after Olori Naomi relocated to her parents’ house, however, she put to bed, thus adding to the royal family, a cherubic baby boy.
At the arrival of the new royal son, gossip hounds have retreated from the sludge-fest; they have crawled back into the crevices from which they emerged.
You couldn’t have forgotten so soon that the Ooni married two wives before Naomi, who was earlier identified as a gift from God.
The first wife, Olori Bukola left and relocated abroad immediately after Oba Ogunwusi assumed the paramount stool of the Ife kingdom.
It would be recalled that his marriage to Olori Wuraola, from Benin, crashed soon after they tied the knots. The former Olori Wuraola, who maintained silence, initially, since the news of their failed marriage hit the social media, eventually came out to debunk the news of her alleged infidelity, saying it was falsehood perpetrated by undisclosed persons.
Wuraola, who has now changed her name to Zainab on her social media, confirmed in a post that she shared via her Instagram handle that her marriage to the monarch was officially over but failed to give reasons for the breakup.
But that is stale news, and therefore, unworthy of a rehash. This minute, the Ooni is joyous over the arrival of his son and he never shares from enthusing his joy.
So ecstatic is the royal family by the new arrival that the boy has been dubbed the ‘Fresh Prince of Ife.’
This is because his arrival has brought a clean breath of fresh air; the palace pulses with palpable joy.
