Social media has become a platform for people, especially celebrities, to vent their hatred against one another, thus exposing their stupidity to the their fans and followers who afterward become disappointed by their stars’ actions. The year 2016 started on this note in the Nigeria’s entertainment industry, a quick recall of the fight between Don Jazzy and Olamide after the incident at the new year day’s Headies Award.
Also recently, Peter Okoye of the Psquare took to instagram to vent oh his brother, Jude Okoye, who is also his manager, saying that Jude has been mismanaging their band. Then Wizkid and Linda Ikeji toed the same line with each of them spreading their dirty linens in the open.
But Harrysong, the popular singer who is currently making the airwave with the hit, Reggae Blue, has condemned the act of lashing out at one another by musicians and celebrities on social media, he said this in a recent interview he granted TheCapital.
When asked about the recent trend of celebrities using the social media platforms to rant against one another, He said,
“The truth is, this thing happens everywhere. And it’s also healthy for the business. But I haven’t done that despite the fact that lots of people have offended me. I haven’t done that and will never indulge in that because I am controlled. People are watching, I have followers that are addicted to my songs and I wouldn’t want to send stuff like that to them. There are other ways issues can be settled, but going online to abuse is the demeaning.
“Musicians have to have self-control. They are mentoring people they don’t even know. So you should be more careful so you don’t mislead people.”
