Delusions of eminence is like a double-edged scythe; it injures others, brings hardship to oneself, soils the mind, and may well lead to hell. But very few influential men and powerbrokers are aware of this fact. This is why friends and associates of Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum and NNPC boss are spoiling for a showdown with Bola Tinubu, All Progressives Congress (APC) leader and two-time Governor of Lagos.
Soon after Tinubu flayed Kachikwu for disrespecting Nigerians in a public statement, friends of Kachikwu have come out to support and defend him, stressing that the APC leader should leave petroleum minister alone and let him work.
They called Tinubu’s condemnation of Kachikwu as an unwarranted public attack. According to them, Tinubu’s recent denunciation of Kachikwu’s curt riposte to Nigerians that he is not a magician hence he cannot magically end the lingering fuel scarcity, was uncalled for.
They believe the APC leader should have explored more tactful and less sensational means of advising Kachikwu or calling him to order, if he truly had the interest of the petroleum minister and Nigerians at heart.
