After series of speculations and anxiety concerning the burial date of Bayelsa strong man and former state governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, who died late last year at age 62 in Port Harcourt, a date has officially been set for his burial. According to the traditional ruler of Amassoma Kingdom and first cousin of the deceased Ijaw leader, Major Graham Naingba (rtd), the funeral of the former governor, who died in October last year, will commence on March 24 and end on March 26.
The monarch said the deceased would have been buried on November 16 last year to coincide with his 63 birthday, but it had to be put off because of preparations for the state governorship election and the inability of the state government and the deceased’s family to agree on that date.
According to the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Esueme Kikile, Sunday, said the late former Governor, Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha died of complications arising from high blood pressure and diabetes which affected his kidney. He had chronic kidney disease which was aggravated by the sudden rise in his blood pressure and the long diabetics.
