Nigeria’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has affirmed that Boko Haram will soon be a thing of history judging by the recent onslaught unleashed on them by the Nigerian Army. The Chief of Air Staff said this at the commissioning of a medical laboratory at the NAF 81 Maritime Group in Benin City, Edo State.
Abubarkar said: “We are at the tail end of the war against Boko Haram. One of their enclaves, Alagarnu, has just been taken over. I was in the North-East a few days ago and I believe that we are at the tail end of this operation.”
Nigeria Army have recorded victories against the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist group in recent times as territories once occupied by them have been taken back and hundreds of abducted citizens have been freed. The Army have also recovered weapons and ammunition belonging to the Nigerian Army that the terrorists stole last year.
At the comminssion of the project, Abubakar explained that the new projects, which include medical facilities, were to add value to the already existing equipment, adding that the focus of the Air Force was to promote a professional service and the welfare of its personnel, in addition to training.
“The last time we came, we didn’t have a laboratory. But today, we have a well equipped laboratory. Professionalism is not just about training and equipping the soldier but also taking care of the welfare of the soldier.
“A professional soldier can also fall sick. That is why we need to provide a laboratory, which we have done.”
