The conference, which culminated in Akinsanya’s election, was overseen by the acting National President of the union, Aliyu Issa-Ore. He emphasized that the union’s constitution mandates the zone in rotation to produce the president and present the elected individual to the National Secretariat.
Issa-Ore, represented by Mrs. Adedamola Salam, Head of Finance from the National Headquarters in Abuja, commended the southwestern zone for adhering to the constitutional process and successfully electing Akinsanya as president.
The delegates also elected Tajudeen Agbede as Vice President for the Southwest and Akeem Adeosun as trustee from the zone.
Upon taking the oath of office, Oluomo strongly urged all members to foster an atmosphere of peace, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to unity within the union.
“I have forgiven everyone who has wronged me, and I expect those I have offended to extend the same courtesy. This union belongs to all of us, and we must actively work to safeguard it. We will not allow anyone to undermine our means of livelihood.”
