According to a report by The Nation Newspaper, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has come to a mutual agreement with Pascal Okechukwu, a popular celebrity barman known as Cubana Chief Priest, to settle the naira abuse charge outside of court.
The details of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, but it is believed that the resolution will be amicable and satisfactory for both parties involved.
The EFCC had earlier accused Cubana Chief Priest of violating the Central Bank of Nigeria’s currency exchange regulations by ‘spraying’ money at an event in Lagos, a practice that has been deemed illegal.
However, with this agreement, it seems that the matter will be resolved without the need for a legal battle in court.
The out-of-court settlement was disclosed when the proceedings resumed on Thursday.
Cubana Chief Priest appeared before Justice Kehinde Ogundare, facing three counts related to abusing the national currency at a social gathering.
These actions are in violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
