Drake, the Canadian rapper, lost a $615,000 bet after Anthony Joshua knocked out Francis Ngannou in their heavyweight showdown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In the early hours of Saturday, Joshua floored Ngannou in the second round of the 10-round heavyweight bout.
The former unified and two-time heavyweight champion first sent the Cameroonian stumbling with a right-left hook, and he followed it up with another right hand, which left him unconscious on the canvas.
Richard Gonzales, the referee, signalled the end of the bout as Ngannou lay crumbled on the mat with the bout only a few minutes in.
A few hours before the fight, Drake took to his Instagram page and uploaded a slip of his betting on the bout.
The 37-year-old ‘God’s Plan’ crooner staked $615,000 on Ngannou defeating Joshua at the Kingdom Arena.
According to his betting slip, Drake would have earned $1.9 million from the proceedings had the Cameroonian defeated Joshua.
Drake is notable for his penchant to bet on combat sports — particularly boxing and the Ultimate Fight Championship (UFC).
Although he had recorded some winnings in his betting streaks, the rapper suffered losses more often than not.
In January, he lost over half a million pounds when he incorrectly backed Sean Strickland to defend his UFC middleweight championship against Dricus Du Plessis.
In September 2023, Drake lost $920,000 after betting on Israel Adesanya to beat Sean Strickland in their UFC middleweight title.
Strickland produced a massive upset to upstage Adesanya and claim the belt.
