A Celestial Church of Christ evangelist and lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Professor Temitope Jaiyeola, has been appointed as the Occupier of the Pastor Enoch Adeboye Professorial Chair at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
The Pastor Enoch Adeboye Professorial Chair was established in 2009 by the RCCG General Overseer as part of his Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to the University, having being the first person to bag a Ph.D in Mathematics at the University.
According to the communication unit of the University, an occupier of the chair is expected to teach and supervise existing or newly designed courses at both undergraduate and postgraduates’ levels in Mathematics and carry out research in any specialized area of Mathematics for the University.
The occupant is also expected to present an Annual Lecture (each year) as well as deliver a terminal public Lectures on his/her accomplishments at the end of the tenure.
The mathematics professor, who is also a Director at the Christ Beyond Borders International (CBBI), United Kingdom, was appointed recently after scaling through a rigorous application process, while the appointment is expected to take effect from December 29, 2023 and would be for two years.
While reacting to the development, the founder and International Director of CBBI UK, Shepherd Paul Tunde Soile, described the appointment as well-deserved and highly meritorious given the uncommon brilliance and excellence Professor Jaiyeola has demonstrated in the mathematical world over the years.
He said the appointment is also a clear testament to Professor Jaiyeola’s versatility and enviable academic track records, which, he said, has continued to earn him commendations and honours across the globe.
While the chairman of CBBI’s International Advisory Board, Evangelist Francis Tunji Odebiyi, also congratulated Professor Jaiyeola on the achievement, the Director-General of the Gender-Based Initiatives (GBI), a subsidiary of CBBI, Mrs Janet Soile, was also full of praise for the mathematics professor, describing the appointment as a noble accomplishment worthy of emulation.
Mrs Soile said Professor Jaiyeola has over the years distinguished himself as a purposeful and result-driven mathematician and deeply-rooted evangelist in the Celestial fold.
She said the appointment would no doubt spur the professor towards the attainment of greater heights in his professional career.
