Were he blessed with occasional flashes of silence or the inclinations to keep mute, conversation or senate proceedings with Senator Ben Bruce may be perfectly delightful. But he isn’t. The Silverbird Television boss and member of Nigeria’s Eighth National Assembly can neither affect nor comprehend the proverbial tact required of a man of his status and high office – this explains his predilection for playing to the gallery and courting public ridicule by his utterances.
From reneging on his earlier pledge to donate his salary to the needy to other public gaffes, Ben has gradually attained the status of an enfant terrible lawmaker in the eyes of the Nigerian electorate.
But Ben’s seeming discretionary gaffes are hardly the thrust of this write-up, his forthcoming birthday is definitely something to be ecstatic about, at least to the controversial lawmaker.
Therefore, as you read, Ben Bruce is over the moon. In the next few weeks, the ‘Alariwo’ the Nigerian senate will clock 60 and he plans to celebrate it in a big way. He plans to mark his birthday with a book presentation on February 19, 2016 at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites.
