While it is true that one man’s folly is another man’s wife and that one man’s wife is another man’s ‘waste basket,’ it smacks of extreme deviousness to allege that Olu Adewunmi, popular socialite, used his best friend, Karen Koshoni, as an ordinary ‘waste basket.’ Mischief makers once alleged that Olu was the reason Karen got separated from her ex-husband, Patrick Koshoni.
It would be recalled that Olu, the fun loving husband of Adeola, owner of Bookworm, was a very close friend of Karen. Their very close relationship allegedly gave Karen’s husband, Patrick, sleepless nights as he became increasingly paranoid thinking that his wife was sleeping with Olu. Consequently, the Koshonis’ marriage fell apart and they went their separate ways.
In high society rumour circuits, it is alleged that Karen’s husband caught her and Olu in a very disgraceful and amoral position one particular night; this reportedly led to the couple’s break-up. But according to sources close to the Koshonis, Olu was not responsible for the Koshonis’ crashed marriage. They admitted that although Karen and Olu were very close friends, the duo, they maintained, were not involved with each other romantically.
The rumour was discarded as the plot of some lazy fellows who take joy in reading meanings to human associations no matter how platonic they appear. If feelers emanating from the home of Olu Adewunmi however, are anything to go by, he has put the whole saga behind him. Olu, a very decent man, is currently doing pretty well in business. Likewise, Karen, his alleged ‘waste basket’ has moved on; she is currently enjoying her newfound freedom.
