He warned of war, but after making such threats, did he really believe the masses would rush to the polls to support him? My people, when you create fear and chaos, you drive voters away. Edo citizens are wise, and no one was going to risk their safety for a man who brought them nothing but tension.
And then came the rain – it wasn’t just rain; it was like the heavens were weeping over Obaseki’s failed administration! On a day when voters needed motivation, they were instead confronted with flooded streets, like the River Nile flowing through Benin. Who would brave such conditions to vote for a leader who couldn’t even address basic infrastructure issues like drainage? With their homes and streets underwater, the people had no choice but to abandon any hope of supporting Obaseki.
