First Civilian Governor of Lagos State, Lateef Jakande, is Dead
Alhaji Lateef Jakande, the first Civilian Governor of Lagos State, is dead.
Jakande died aged 91 in the early hours of Thursday.
The former journalist was the governor from 1979 to 1983 and later appointed Minister of Works under Gen. Sani Abacha.
His death is coming three weeks after the death of a former Military Governor of the state Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, passed away.
