If her recent close shave with death was nature’s way of warning Unoma Akpabio, wife of the former governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, about the transience of life, she has seen the light. And the dark-skinned beauty has further hearkened to her doctor’s advice to slow down considerably with her social and other such physically demanding activities.
That is why she is no longer a sight at society functions in Lagos, Abuja or Uyo where her very wealthy husband held sway as governor for eight uninterrupted years. Hardly does she even visit her native Enugu State. These days, the 46-year-old former First Lady concentrates more on her kids and businesses while making regular visits to Germany where she was successfully operated on last year.
It would be recalled that in the wake of widespread rumours that Unoma had passed on, her husband was forced to declare; “During the cause of my wife having our children, she had caesarean child deliveries. Well, what we didn’t know was that for some reason, there was a devastating surgical error. In sewing back my wife’s womb, some surgeon sewed up her bowels to her skin. Not just in one place but in several places. My wife took ill.
During investigation, doctors discovered this surgical blunder. We were all shocked, including the doctors.” The corrective operation was done last year successfully and Unoma is back on her feet but not to her former life of frenetic activities.
