The Commander of the counter-insurgency operation in the North East, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor, says God has given Nigeria victory over Boko Haram.
Irabor said this during an Inter-Denominational Church Services held at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Catholic Church of Nigeria to mark Nigerian Army Day Celebration at the Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.
He said the nation and its military needed to – as part of the Army day celebration which comes up on July 6 every year – give glory to God for the victory he has given the country.
He noted that the day was picked for the celebration to mark the first shot in the Nigerian Civil War, which was fired on July 6, 1967.
Irabor said, “The Nigerian Army deemed it very necessary to set aside every 6th of July of every year to give glory to God for the victory that was brought to our land; through the Nigerian Army.
“As part of the Nigerian Army Day celebration which comes up on every July, 6; this inter-denominational church service was organised. Last Friday, another service was also organised for the Muslim faithful.”
“The significance of this church service was to bring all the Christian faithful to acknowledge the supremacy of God. Our motto says; victory is from God. What better opportunity of time do we have than to come together in his presence to return all the glory to him; it only stands to reason that we must come together under a single umbrella to appreciate him.”
According to Irabor, the Boko Haram war has two dimensions of spiritual and professionalism of troops in winning the war that last for over three years.
