Money functions on the incense of its worth. It imbues its possessor with infinite sense of worth and grandeur. Oftentimes, it makes otherwise ordinary men seem like extraordinary gods, far removed from the rank of fellow men. Where money talks, everything works. Ask Governor Ibikunle Amosun. The incumbent Governor of Ogun State has got the money habit; with too much cash at his beck and call, he finds it easy to embark on spending sprees and grand pageantry of wealth and status. Little wonder he organised the 20th remembrance and anniversary of his late father. When you are the incumbent governor of a state like Amosun, it becomes easier to immortalise your parent using state facilities at your disposal, as your politics and vanities dictate.
Amosun, penultimate Friday, held a special prayer session to mark the 20th year remembrance of his late father and patriarch of the Amosun family, Alhaji Abdul Lasisi Oyedeni Sanusi-Amosun who died on January 20, 1997. Held at his Ita-Iyalode, Owu, Abeokuta family house, the prayer session, which was attended by all members of the Amosun family, was presided over by the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Alhaji Liadi Orunsolu and other Islamic clerics. Trust, politicians, favour seekers and career sycophants, they were all there talking about the late father they never met in glowing terms.
