The Independent National Electoral Commission, on Thursday, in Abuja, released the timetables and schedule of activities for the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states.
According to the electoral body, the Edo State governorship election comes up on Saturday, September 10, 2016 just as that of Ondo State comes up on Saturday, November 26, 2016.
INEC said June 12, 2016 had been fixed for the commencement of campaigns by political parties in the Edo governorship election, while party primaries would hold between July 2 and 4, 2016.
It said the resolution of disputes would also hold between July 2 and 4, 2016.
The electoral body fixed August 11, 2016 for the publication of the voter registers for the election, adding that the submission of the names of party agents for the election would hold on August 27, 2016.
The commission also fixed September 8, 2016 as the last day for campaigns for the Edo governorship election.
Similarly, INEC has scheduled August 28, 2016 for the commencement of campaigns by political parties in the Ondo governorship election.
The commission has also scheduled 22nd – 26th of August, 2016 for the collection of forms by political parties at INEC headquarters, Abuja, while the conduct of party primaries, including the resolution of disputes arising from the primaries, would hold between September 18 and 19, 2016.
The publication of the official voter register for the election would be done on October 27, 2016, while the submission of the names of party agents for the election is slated for November 19, 2016.
The last day for campaigns for the Ondo governorship election, according to the commission, is Thursday, November 24, 2016.
