· How close allies deserted him for fear of been named in the arm procurement scandal
Col. Sambo Dasuki, Nigerian former National Security Adviser who was picked up recently at his Abuja home over the arm procurement deal is possibly seeing his hell as he lives through the intensive scrutiny of the Anti-graft agency.
His arrest was followed by high profiled men in the society like Raymond Dokpesi, founder of DAAR Communications, and Attahiru Bafarawa, former governor of Sokoto state and others for allegedly receiving parts of the money.
Col. Dasuki has been in the custody of the DSS for days and was reported to have been disclosing names of his allies in sharing the 2 billion dollars for arms procurement.
A close source to the family disclosed that the former NSA of the federation has been deserted by friends and business associates for fear of their names been mentioned.
The source further explained that this has been a trying time for the retired colonel and his family cause his trusted friends and allies which he expected to come to his aide to defend him have turned their backs on him while some have even switched off their mobile phones for fear of been implicated.
Dasuki recently, denied ever implicating anyone or making implicating statement. He released a statement through his lawyer, Raji Ahmed (SAN)
“I was with Dasuki yesterday and wish to make categorical statement that my client never made any statement of such nature or naming anybody or group in any statement,”
PRNigeria quoted Raji as saying. “Quote me anywhere, Dasuki has not done anything like that. It is absolutely untrue. It is the figment of the imagination of the authors aimed at creating falsehood for reasons best known to them and Nigerians should disregard them.
“They are just out to scandalise the man, bring his image and character into disrepute so that his friends and well wishers can run away from him. They want him deserted and that will fail.” He said.
