Yes, many a man loves his sweetheart the most; his wife the best, but his mother the longest. If Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr, the chairman of Globacom would define his mother, he would claim that the walls of her heart was lined with gold and silver; he would say that she lived by a moral code that dwarfed old England’s claim to chivalry and honour. Then he might say that even in her absence; that old virtuosity she left behind, resonates poignantly like the timeless lyric of a heavenly chant. There are too many ways to describe Adenuga’s mother, and even the best couched adjectives couldn’t do justice to the task.Even in death, Madam Oyindamola Juliana Adenuga retains the very big and impressive part of his billionaire son’s heart.
Mike loved his late father too no doubt, but he had a great relationship with his mum, which he still cherishes till today. The Champion, as he’s fondly called, will hardly forget his mother. A disciplinarian of note, Madam Oyindamola moulded Mike into every mother’s joy, thus it was no surprise that Mike gave her a befitting burial at her demise. Soon, Mike Adenuga will be having a wondrous memorial ceremony for his both parents, his mother who passed on ten years ago, 8th June 2005, and his father, Pa Michael Agbolade Adenuga who passed on 7th June 1979. Expectedly, there would a special prayer session for the repose of their souls. Madam Oyindamola who died at the age of 90 was born Oyin Onasile on February 19, 1915 at Ibido, Oke Sopen Quarter, Ijebu-Igbo in Ogun State to late Pa Silu Onasile and late Mama Dorcas Onasile. She was the fifth of seven children. On January 5, 1937, she walked down the aisle with her heartthrob, Pa Michael Adenuga, also a native of Ijebu-Igbo. The latter was a teacher and inspector of education and was reputed to have lived a spartan life. With her husband, Mama later took residence in Ile-Ife. She relocated to Ibadan in 1944 to establish a vibrant dress-making institute. Even in death she is regarded as an epitome of purity and pride to motherhood.
