One man’s definition of excessive is another’s derisory sum. But as an end, the acquisition of wealth by the rich is never ignoble in the extreme; particularly when the affluent is a woman who acquires wealth only as a means of enabling her do a lot of good in her days and as a guarantee of unforgettable treats to her wards when need be.
It is hardly surprising therefore, that Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC- subsidiary), NNPC Retail, would go out of her way to treat her daughter, Ifeyinwa, and Joseph Obla, her soulmate, to a grand wedding ceremony as they united in holy matrimony on December 17, 2016. The NNPC boss, apparently unperturbed by the tumultuous waves of recession thrashing every aspect of the economy, summoned her most affluent means and resources to give her daughter and her beau to one of the grandest wedding celebrations of 2016.
The event which held at the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria-Island, Lagos, saw Nnamdi-Ogbue spare no expenses in giving her daughter and her groom a memorable wedding celebration. Before the grand finale of the festivity, the happy couple had their engagement on Thursday, December 15, at The Dorchester, also in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The bride’s mother, Nnamdi-Ogbue, was visibly excited throughout the ceremony. She flaunts intimidating and enviable depth which remarkably compliments her drive and knack for excellence. And in consonance with her tradition of excellence, her daughter’s wedding was a remarkable success. Thus Nnamdi-Ogbue bore the pleasant mien of pride and fulfillment all through the event.
Besides the indisputable grandeur brilliantly on display at the wedding, the event attracted the crème of NNPC’s top guns and Nigeria’s high society. The Group Managing Director, NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, was among dignitaries that attended the wedding reception. Others at the reception include the former managing director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, Chief Timi Alaibe, Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja and wife, Mrs. Queen Akinlaja, Hon. Ayodeji Adebayo Joseph; top-shots in NNPC, and oil companies, diplomats, captains of industries among others.
