· Coastal city woos tourists to experience its charming heritage
Africa will charge with the grandeur of Lagos and the rest of the world will marvel and pay homage to the coastal city’s fabled charm, very soon. The mystic reverence and religious adherence, which are essential by-products in the pursuit of a true paradise, are imaginative sentiments that no legislature can manufacture in any people, but Governor Akinwumi Ambode is set to elicit such wonderful passion in the citizenry of Lagos and the coastal city’s neighbours at home and abroad.
To achieve this, Governor Ambode is set to launch the “One Lagos” brand. According to the amiable and hardworking Commissioner for TourismTourism, Arts and Culture, Folly Coker, the branding project is established in consonance with his resolve to make Lagos the tourism hub and entertainment destination of Africa. Thus Lagos state is set for the launch of the “One Lagos” brand as you read.
The “One Lagos” brand is conceived to drive economic growth across all communities in Lagos state by taking advantage and drawing strength from its over 20 million population, diverse multi-cultural mix and the uniqueness of its people.
The initiative is expected to add remarkable fillip to tourism in the state by attracting local, regional and international tourists to see and experience more of Lagos, particularly the rich, cultural heritage and other tourist offerings of the vibrant city.
The three-day event will feature musical performances by top rated and upcoming artistes, comedy shows and food festivals. Other elements of the event are dance competition, cultural display and kids’ entertainment segments. “One Lagos” brand will showcase the true spirit of Lagos through different creative expressions while leveraging on the city’s abundant soft power to reverse negative conversation about the city of Lagos. The branding process includes a platform to promote the diverse multicultural heritage of Africa’s largest megacity to the global audience.
“One Lagos” brand initiative will deploy digital but positive visual images of the city, while exposing its uniqueness in terms of colour and vibrancy across all local and global media platforms. The starting point is to generate positive conversation about Lagos across the globe.
The brand launch is also part of the countdown approach to the 50th anniversary of the state before the commencement of the project’s soft launch on Wednesday July 27 and its official launch on Friday, July 29, 2016.
