The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has responded to an AI-generated image circulating on social media that portrayed him as an Alhaji. Speaking during the RCCG’s first Holy Ghost Night of the year in the early hours of Saturday, January 4, Adeboye addressed the viral image and other pressing issues.
In late December 2024, social media was abuzz with manipulated images showing Pastor Adeboye dressed in Islamic attire and appearing in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The term Alhaji refers to a man who has completed the Hajj pilgrimage, while Alhaja refers to a female counterpart.…CONTINUE READING
Reacting with a wry smile, Adeboye remarked, “I’m sure many of you saw that picture showing me as an Alhaji.” While addressing the controversy, he also spoke about the rise of mockers, predicting that many such individuals might not survive the year, though he emphasized that God does not take pleasure in the death of sinners.
Adeboye turned his focus to international issues, urging prayers for global peace amid escalating global conflicts to prevent another world war. He prophesied that 2025 would witness an unprecedented earthquake of massive magnitude.
In his sermon titled “The Glory Ahead,” Adeboye reassured the congregation of a brighter future despite present challenges. He emphasized God’s ongoing purpose for humanity on earth, stating that divine plans must be fulfilled before believers transition to eternity.
Addressing Nigeria’s situation, Pastor Adeboye announced a 100-day fast for the RCCG, with the first 30 days dedicated specifically to praying for the nation. He vowed to lead the church in “violent prayers” to uproot forces hindering Nigeria’s progress.
He provided guidelines for the fast, urging those over 70 to avoid extreme fasting measures. Specifically, individuals aged 70-80 were advised to break their fast by 3 p.m., those over 80 by noon, and those above 90 were exempted entirely.
Adeboye also stressed the importance of coupling fasting with prayer, warning that without prayer, fasting becomes nothing more than a “hunger strike.”
Looking ahead, Adeboye prophesied that 2025 would usher in a “stronger wind,” symbolizing significant breakthroughs, long-awaited milestones, promotions, and weddings.
Multiple media outlets reported on the viral AI-generated image.
