Immediate past Imo Governor Senator Rochas Okorocha has been arrested after he broke into Royal Spring Palm Estate sealed by the State Government.
Accompanied by his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, the Imo West Senator broke the keys to recover the estate belonging to his wife Nkechi.
Infuriated by the ex-Governor’s action, loyalists of the State Government confronted them in a bloody clash that left one person injured.
Imo Government on Friday recovered the Royal Palm Estate along Akachi road belonging.
The seizure, according to the team led by the Commissioner for Lands, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, was in compliance with the directive of the Imo State gazette on the report of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on recovery of Lands and other related matters.
Okorocha, who was led into a sienna vehicle by a team of police, was driven to the command around 5pm.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, alleged the former Governor took some thugs to the Royal Palm Estate and forcefully broke the government seal to gain entry into the estate.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu (SP), said the command received a distress call on unrest somewhere at Royal Palm Estate and discovered Okorocha allegedly led some people to the place sealed by the state government.
“This generated unrest and some youths from Owerri stormed the place. Right now he is in our custody and the Commissioner of Police has directed a full scale investigation into the incident and if found guilty, he would be prosecuted according to the provision of the law,” he said.
Those arrested along with him include Steve Asimobi, Lasbrey Okaforanywu and Ijeoma Iboanusi.
