Yemi Alade, popular gorgeous Nigerian singer, known for her hit single Johnny has gradually grown her brand and career.
Just like other great and successful people, Yemi has also experienced her own share of ups and downs.
In an interview, the star singer opens up on her rise to stardom and how she never had a deep interest for music. She said “I started singing when I was young. My dad used to play King Sunny Ade’s music; my mother was a fan of gospel tunes. My brothers used to play a lot of Usher and R Kelly songs, but I never wanted to do music. It was my mum that exposed me to it and made me take to it. I never planned to do music. I’m grateful to her now. You know that I won the Peak Talent Show in 2009 and I took off from there”.
The 25 year old pop singer also revealed that she is fast growing in the industry and really working hard to have a signature. “I still plan to read music someday and add to my knowledge. Now, I’m passionate about music. My management, headed by Taiwo Alli, has been working hard to push my music and my brand and it is yielding results now. We are doing better music now and shooting better videos”
She however revealed how she trotted to perform from club to club for free to promote herself at the beginning of her career; she explains “I did seven years of free shows going from one club to the other and selling myself”.
The energetic diva recently had a wonderful concert in France, in which her fans were wowed. She fierily performed her signature hit track tangerine and Johnny among other songs. Currently the beautiful pop star is on her European tour.
