Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), shared a personal story of being defrauded by a man who promised to make him a commandant of a paramilitary group. In a candid post on X, Adeboye revealed how his ambition to lead a military-like organization led to significant financial loss.
According to the cleric, a man had persistently reached out to him through his secretary, eventually securing an audience with him. Adeboye, driven by his long-standing love for the military, admitted that he acted without seeking divine guidance, a step he usually takes before making decisions. His enthusiasm led him to provide financial support in hopes of becoming the group’s spiritual leader, only to later discover that the man was a fraud.
Reflecting on the experience, Adeboye said, “My desire made me run ahead of God, but God had already purposed for Redemption City to have its own corps of chaplains as well as a local Police post. He had planned for it to be fulfilled in His own time.”
He acknowledged that while his loss was merely financial, others in similar situations might have faced more severe consequences, such as the loss of life. The pastor used the story as a lesson about patience and trusting God’s timing, urging others to avoid rushing ahead of divine plans.
The experience ultimately reinforced the value of seeking divine guidance in all matters, a principle Adeboye continues to emphasize in his teachings.
