Crisis rocks the church as its founder and top cleric admits having extramarital affair with top artiste, K-solo’s wife
It has been said that a pastor’s attitude towards home and his flock can be surmised in three words: Aisle. Altar. Aplomb. But Pastor Anselm Madubuko of the Revival Assembly adds a fourth ‘A’ – Adultery. Like the proverbial shepherd of stray flock, he loves applying democracy to love. In a stunning revelation that arguably affirms the argument that altars reveal the flaws of the clergy as much as it elevates them, the Revival Assembly Senior Pastor, on October 18, 2015 allegedly confessed to having engaged in adulterous escapades with a female member of the church.
According to NET, an online publication, Pastor Madubuko, a widely acclaimed cleric, knelt before his congregation to apologise and seek forgiveness from them. Madubuko reportedly admitted an extramarital relationship with popular musician, K-Solo’s ex-wife, Kikelomo Akinkunmi, for three months. He said, “She came to him as a prayer warrior and he didn’t suspect foul play till it was too late.”
Quoting a source within the church, NET revealed that Kikelomo was expelled from the church after members got wind of her clandestine love affair with their highly respected pastor. She was allegedly expelled along with a certain Pastor Uche. Pastor Madubuko’s Kenyan wife, Emmy Kosgei, was reportedly in attendance during his revelation and plea for forgiveness; sources said she consoled him as he wept terribly in front of the congregation.
Pastor Madubuko’s case is hardly the first in the scandalous history of the Nigerian the clergy. Several other pastors have been mired in infidelity scandals in the past. For instance, COZA’s Biodun Fatoyinbo is yet to provide his ‘robust response’ following a sex scandal involving a former church member, Ese Walters. Madubuko, founder and senior pastor of Revival Assembly, and widower of Connie, is married to Emmy Kosgei, a Kenyan gospel singer.
Successive attempts to confirm the allegations and get Madubuko’s side to the story proved abortive as his assistant pastor, Sope Ilori, has not picked or returned calls and our visits to the church yielded no result.
Neither K-solo nor Kike agreed to comment on the allegations. ‘I don’t want to say anything about it, I’ll just leave it and let God judge everybody. Please don’t ask any more questions because you can’t convince me as a journalist to speak on this issue,’ she told our correspondent over the phone.
