Tongues have started wagging that the latest acquisitions by the Ijebu-born billionaire have been taken to make a grand statement during the launch of his sprawling hospital business, Marriot Hotel in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, about which plans are now at feverish peak. It will be recalled that Taiwo Afolabi made a heavy investment that the faint of heart likely would dare not few years ago when he was given a franchise by the Marriot International. The 251-room hotel built on 7,000sqm promises to offer top notch luxury services hitherto unseen in the sphere of Nigeria’s hospitality industry.
Its construction is handled by DORI Construction and Engineering while the electricity aspect by ETCO, the architectural masterpiece spreads through two major streets in GRA, that is, Joel Ogunnaike and Oba Adejobi Streets. When opened, the hotel will be fully serviced by Marriot. The facilities include lobby with retail outlets, ballroom and pre-function catering for 800-1000, executive lounge, business centre with meeting, seminar, board rooms, 3-4 food and beverage outlets including all day dining, speciality restaurants and a rooftop club bar.
